Yard-work!
One of the electives at school, Framtid og Handling--dedicated to the future and the environment--held a spring cleaning day Sunday. The weather has been warm and sunny recently, and we've all been anxious to get outside. Sunday was 50 degrees, so helping clean the area around the school sounded like a fantastic excuse to be outdoors.
There were about 15-20 of us that joined, and we split into groups across the property. My group was in charge of raking up leaves and sticks, as well as picking up trash along the front of the school. Despite feeling we'd been slightly tricked into doing yard-work, my friends and I had a lot of fun! We used Sofia's speaker, and danced around while we worked. While we were very productive, getting everything done we'd been assigned, we also goofed off plenty.
After we were done, and all of the bags, gloves and tools had been collected, we had a little picnic out back. The teacher had made boller--sweet bread rolls with raisins (@ the Norwegians reading, please don't kill me for calling them bread). We drank gløgg--a hot Christmas drink with spices--and hot chocolate. I think they'd anticipated colder weather when they planned!
By the time we finished up, we had about 45 minutes until dinner. I went up to the dorms and sat out on our little balcony, reading my book. It was so nice feeling the sun on my face. It's been a cold and dark winter, but the days are getting brighter, and I've even been woken up by the sun the last few days!
Boller seems easy to make. Maybe I'll try it!
ReplyDeleteThe days are getting longer here, too. So nice to see the sun in the mornings.
Glad you are taking advantage of the warmer weather!
