Meeting Our Idol

Today our class took a trip to Kristiansand to go to the theater. We were seeing a short show for children that featured three actors telling a variety of fairytales. The language wasn't that difficult, so I was able to understand most of it if I paid attention.

What was really distracting was that one of the actors looked extremely familiar. In class we have a textbook, and the online version of the textbook features video sections where a man teaches us how to pronounce words and phrases. When the actor walked out on stage, I immediately thought that he looked just like the På Vei guy.

After the show we were discussing our reactions, and Valeria mentioned that he looked familiar to her as well. Suddenly the whole class was talking about how similar they looked, and how it couldn't possibly be him. Marianne was a little confused, but intrigued, so she talked her way back through the doors and met the guy as he was clearing up.

When they came out from backstage we all got super excited, and he told us that he really was the På Vei guy! He was so shocked that we'd recognized him, and told us that nobody had ever recognized him for that before. It was such a fun coincidence, and in the moment it felt like our class was meeting a celebrity! In his fairytale clothes, he was so out of context from the stiff and structured person we were used to. Everyone was laughing about how amazing it was, and were able to take some pictures--both regular, and of us doing our favorite hand motions from the pronunciation videos.

This was such a fun and unexpected part of the week that I needed to share it! Not much out of the ordinary has been happening lately, but feel free to comment anything you want to hear more about :)

  2. Don't forget your 'cousin' Yngvar Skuland is an actor!
Maybe you will get to see him in something.

  3. Give out a questionnaire to NLC kids and then post what question you asked and the responses given. For example, favorite trip while there, what you wished you brought from home, next year plans, or whatever you think would be entertaining.
